At Rise In, we are dedicated to educating, incubating, and accelerating developers worldwide with web3 education. We aim to bridge the gap between developers and the tools they need to succeed in web3. With our initiatives, we have built a skilled developer community, and we are helping shape the future of blockchain.

Our collaboration with Aptos has been a milestone in this journey. Known for its scalability, reliability, and security, Aptos empowers developers to build innovative decentralized applications (dApps) using the robust and efficient Move programming language. In 2024, we embarked on a mission to educate India’s developer ecosystem with “Move on Aptos” so that they can build blazing-fast apps on Aptos. We hosted workshops, boot camps, and hackathons to upskill the next generation of blockchain builders.

According to the 2024 Developer Report by Electric Capital (EC), Aptos had 1,695 new developers in 2024. Of these, 264 developers (16% of the total!) came through Rise In!

Why India?

According to the EC report, India has the 2nd largest web3 developer talent pool in the world. India has emerged as a global hub for web3 innovation, with its vast pool of tech-savvy developers and a thriving startup culture. The country’s vibrant tech ecosystem aligns perfectly with Aptos’ vision for scalability and decentralization. All the dominant web3 ecosystems have benefited extensively by focusing on Indian developers to build Dapps that bring a lot of users to their chains/protocols. Aptos wants to be the go-to Non-EVM chain for Developers and by working closely with Naresh (India Lead, Aptos) we came up with the plan to train Indian Devs at scale to “build on Aptos”.

Build on Aptos Bootcamps: Building the Foundation

To create a solid foundation for Aptos, Rise In hosted a series of online and offline bootcamps across India. Over the past six months, we organized 7+ bootcamps, training over 900 developers. Here’s what the developers got to learn from the bootcamps:

• Introduction to web3, Aptos and Move on Aptos.

• Build hands-on projects on Aptos with the Move programming language.

• Advanced concepts like MoveVM integration and frontend development.

Build on Aptos IRL Bootcamps & Hackathons

In collaboration with several universities and community partners, we hosted 10+ offline workshops and hackathons, engaging with 1500+ developers and onboarding 1000+ developers into the Aptos ecosystem. By hosting events in multiple cities, we raised awareness about Aptos and blockchain technologies.

Aptos Code Collision, Aptos’ global hackathon saw strong participation from Indian developers, driven by Rise In’s active outreach. We also collaborated with Spehron to open a Spheron Super Move Tour - Bootcamp aimed at training developers attending the Super Move Tour across India. Over 100 developers enrolled in this self-paced bootcamp and learned how to build dApps on Aptos.

Rise In X Aptos Key Achievements in India:

• 264 open-source submissions from Rise In’s developer community in India were showcased in Electric Capital’s 2024 developer report.
• 900+ developers trained through online boot camps.
• 1500+ developers participated in Rise In and Aptos’ global hackathons, leading to a total of 407 projects built on Aptos.

Lessons Learned and Future Plans

Throughout our journey, we’ve tackled several challenges head-on. Our DevRels learned how to address runtime and technical errors during workshops to make sure developers are able to deploy their first smart contract on Aptos without any friction. Simplifying the complexities of the Move programming language made it easier to onboard beginner developers. Additionally, raising awareness about Aptos’ potential among developers helped us to attract more web2 developers.

Looking ahead, we aim to train over 4,000 developers across India in the next year, empowering them to innovate within the Aptos ecosystem. We plan to do even more workshops and hackathons with local communities to attract the best developers and builders. By building on our strong foundation, we’re committed to scaling these efforts and fostering a vibrant Aptos community.
